Sixes River Chinook (King Salmon)
The Sixes River is located near the town of Port Orford. The Sixes offers some high-action Oregon river fishing and boasts some of the best Chinook Salmon fishing in the area. November and December are the peak months for Chinook Salmon fishing on this river. If you have never been Oregon river fishing before, this is a great place to start!
Sixes River Fall Run King Salmon Fishing
These Fall Chinook Salmon on the Sixes River are as nice as you’ll find anywhere. I think the upper sixes River is one of the most beautiful coastal river drifts we have in our region. Most of the fishing is done within 19 miles of the ocean, making these fish quality fighters and table fare. Two per day may be kept. All of this fishing is done from drift boats. I certainly hope you try this one out!
Sixes River Winter Steelhead Fishing
Winter steelhead on the Sixes River is usually peaceful and productive. When hitting this river right, I have some of my best memories of Winter steelhead fishing. We have had some amazing trips catching fish and enjoying the day on the river here.
These fish are typically deep bodied steelhead that often have sea lice scattered on their body – a sign of freshness and feistiness. After setting the hook on one of these fish, they typically explode the surface and often break you off in a nearby tree or snag. But don’t worry we’ll get another one!
